From the Pastors Desk:
On behalf of the Parishioners at Our Lady Help of Christians and the wider Catholic community of The Catholic Family of Cheektowaga, I would like to welcome to our Family the Vietnamese community from Corona on of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Over the past couple of months, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend some me with the Vietnamese faith community at various celebrations and to see what their community is about. Having the Blessed opportunity to experience their community in worship, in their culture, and their Christian life, I am overjoyed in what God has brought in them to our community here in Cheektowaga. Their commitment to each other, the Church, and the wider community will truly enhance the Family of Parishes and the wider community by being a vital part of our Christian community.
Please join me in welcoming them and make them feel at home as many of them already live in the local geographical area. I would like to thank the Vietnamese community for the hospitality they have already extended to me and my family. Along with the way they have already engaged themselves into our community. May God continue to Bless us here in Cheektowaga as we enter into this new chapter of faith as a combined Catholic community. May this infusion of a beautiful faith community open us up to greater possibilities as we continue to work together in revitalizing the Catholic faith community here in Cheektowaga.
God Bless, Fr. Todd

Catholic Charities Appeal
In addition to supporting Catholic Charities, Appeal 2025 also benefits the Fund for the Faith. Established in 1937 by Bishop John Duffy, the Fund for the Faith provides spiritual nourishment throughout the Diocese today. Proceeds provide ministry support services that are instrumental to the vitality of our faith experience, such as hospital chaplaincy, forma on of priests and deacons, pro-life ministry, marriage prep and so much more.
PLEASE NOTE: Please feel assured that all funds raised through Appeal 2025 are used exclusively to fund programs and services that benefit those most in need in Western New York. NONE of your donations are used to settle lawsuits, deal with the diocesan bankruptcy issues, or get funneled to lawyers who are dealing with these cases. Catholic Charities is a separate foundation with NO funds being used for anything except the specific programs that provide for individuals and families in need. You can feel certain that your tax-deductible donation is being used wisely and is not connected in any way with diocesan funds.
If you have not received information in the mail directly from Catholic Charities or have not donated to the annual appeals in the past, you are still most welcome to donate to Appeal 2025. Your gift is especially needed this year as the number of people needing assistance continues to rise. A gift sent in the form of a check (please, do not send cash through the mail) can be mailed to:
Catholic Charities of Buffalo
741 Delaware Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14209
You can also donate online (by credit card or pledge) at www.ccwny.org/donations or text HOPE4WNY to 44321.
Thank you so much for your attention to this invitation to join in this corporal work of mercy.

OCIA (formerly RCIA)
The journey towards becoming a full member of the Catholic Church includes time for prayer, catechesis, and conversation. For those who are not baptized or baptized in another Christian denomination and seeking to be full members of the Catholic Church, or Baptized Catholic but not Confirmed, there is a program called the Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults. OCIA is also open to Catholics who are already Confirmed and would like a program to learn more about the faith.
Candidates should begin to attend Mass and attend the Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent.
Volunteers are needed to assist with helping our candidates move through this program. There is no prior experience needed. Training will be provided.
If you would like more information about the OCIA program or would like to volunteer, please contact the OLHC Parish Office at 716 276-9288 prior to the beginning of Lent.
